Keeping men alive
I hung out with my two best friends (from middle school) last night. On zoom. No agenda, no plan, no big emotional sharing, just connection. One veteran, one new dad, one salty social worker. We laughed and sighed and had a blast reconnecting.
It got me thinking of suicide prevention month and what we can do for men. A start would be creating more spaces (and times) for us to just hang out as men. The bonds we create may be the difference between life and death for someone. Our nervous systems are always seeking safety. Put people in environments of supportive caring people and they thrive.
That is how we end suicide.
Men, we need to hang out.
